The 2021 Indian Premier League auction officially kicked things off for the upcoming season. All the franchise have stacked their sides with the best possible players, as they would all fight for the coveted title in April-May.

Meanwhile, the auction was famous for some historic buyings, as the franchises broke the bank for some record signing. It also saw Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary Indian Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, being roped in by defending champion Mumbai Indians.

While the was the last player to be purchased during the day, he was picked up for his base price of ₹20 lakh. The fans had mixed opinions regarding how he was purchased. However, he was already a part of MI's net bowlers last season, where he trained under Mahela Jayawardena (head coach) and Zaheer Khan (Director of Cricket Operations).

Meanwhile, after he was roped in, MI shared Arjun's video, where he thanked his coaches for having shown faith in him, besides declaring himself as an avid MI supporter. "Since childhood, I have always been a die-hard fan of Mumbai Indians. I would like to thank coaches, owners, and support staff for showing faith in me. Later, speaking on signing Arjun and his overall performance so far, Zaheer stated that he has the talent and skills to be successful at the topmost level, while the team would always help him out. "I have spent a lot of time in the nets, trying to teach him some tricks of the trade. He is a hardworking kid; he is keen on learning; it is an exciting part. The added pressure of being Sachin Tendulkar's son will always be on him. It is something he needs to live with, the environment of the team will help him," he said during a virtual press meet.
