Team India is sweating it out in Australia, as it defends the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a four-Test series. Meanwhile, the Indians have been handed a significant boost, as senior opener Rohit Sharma is back into the frame after recovering from a hamstring strain.

During the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL), he suffered the injury, which kept him out for five games. Although he did return for the playoffs, he was far from being 100% fit, as he was advised to undergo rest and rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), in Bengaluru.

It was earlier this month when he passed the fitness test and was cleared to travel to Australia. However, he could not join the squad for the second Test, as he had to undergo the mandatory 10-day quarantine.

Now that he has completed his quarantine, he has joined the squad, ahead of the third Test. Meanwhile, on the first day of the new year, on Friday, Rohit hit the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) nets to warm-up and sweat it out, ahead of the third Test in Sydney, from Thursday.

In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit is seen practising at the nets, where he seems to be honouring his defence skills, along with some stroke plays, as he looks to get into the groove before the Sydney Test. Watch the video here:

Meanwhile, Rohit has been re-appointed as the vice-captain of the side. The role was previously with Cheteshwar Pujara in the second Test, as he acted as skipper Ajinkya Rahane's deputy. Simultaneously, the latter is the interim captain for Virat Kohli, who is on paternity leave.

Also, Team India is conducting regular practice sessions at MCG, before it departs for Sydney. Here is the video of their practice session from Saturday:
