Gold, silver prices today, November 4: Gold rate down by Rs 440 today
Prices of gold jewellery vary across the nation due to state and central levies and making charges.
Prices of 24-carat gold and silver tanked on Thursday. While the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold came down by Rs 440, to Rs 47,410, the cost of a kilogram of silver was reduced by Rs 2,330 to Rs 62,400. The price of 10 grams of 22-carat gold on Thursday is at Rs 46,410. To note, the prices of gold jewellery vary across the nation due to state and central levies and making charges.
Thursday's rate fluctuation means that the yellow metal would trade at Rs 50,900 for 24-carat in the national capital New Delhi. At the same time, in India's financial capital Mumbai, the price would be Rs 47,410. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold in Chennai is Rs 48,760 and Rs 49,990 in Kolkata.

The demand for gold in the country has bounced back from the lows hit during the Coronavirus pandemic and multiple lockdowns. This year, gold prices have been trading between Rs 47,000 and Rs 49,000 mark. According to World Gold Council data from the September quarter, the demand for gold jumped 47 per cent over the corresponding period in the last financial year to 139.1 tons.
As the Coronavirus situation eased in the country, the demand for jewellery too witnessed a spike of 58 per cent compared to the previous year. According to experts, gold prices are expected to surge towards the Rs 52000-53000 mark over the next 12 months.
