Cisco appoints first woman head as president of India and SAARC region
In a drastic development in the tech business field, Cisco has named Daisy Chittilapilly, the first woman head for India and SAARC region. The new president will take over charge from Sameer Garde from August 1.
FollowUS tech giant Cisco has made a big announcement as it appointed Daisy Chittilapilly as the president of India and SAARC region. Interestingly, this is the first time a woman will hold the top position for Cisco in India.
Chittilapilly will take over from Sameer Garde on August 1 this year which according to the tech giant is the beginning of the new financial year.
As per reports, Chittilapilly has 25 years experience in the tech field and has been in top position. In her 17 years stint with Cisco she has displayed leadership qualities in various capacities and at present is serving as MD, Cisco’s Digital Transformation Office.
Will look after the company's strategy and sales, operations, and investments. And will be aiming towards long-term growth in the India and SAARC region, a company statement read.
The decision by Cisco comes after current president Sameer Garde is all set to move out after serving four years.
After the company's decision, banking on her rich experience, Dave West, President, Cisco Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China, feels that her appointment will help Cisco set in motion its customers and associates to the forefront of the digital economy.
As per Chittilapilly, she sees technology as a 'primary facilitator' in everything that is being done today. Acknowledging Cisco’s leadership across networking, cybersecurity and collaboration, she feels these factors have made them a leader in business.
