Bengaluru city mayor Gangambike Mallikarjun has warned pubs, restaurants and event organisers, who are planning to host new year parties, to obtain special permission from Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) before December 31.

"You just cannot throw a party anywhere. Drinking, dancing and creating nuisance in public places will not be appreciated by the BBMP, which has the power to take action against such event organisers. There are specific places to party and celebrate and only those places will get permission. The organisers should come and take special permission on or before  December 31," said the mayor.

Officials from BBMP in East zone (Brigade Road, MG Road, Church Street, Residency Road, Rest House Road, Kamaraja Road, Museum Road), where a huge crowd is expected to gather, will coordinate with the police department for effective policing during the new year.
