Wheeling by minors: Parents and vehicle owners to be involved in the case: Bengaluru Police

The Bengaluru Police who received complaints of unruly motorists and wheeling, cracked a whip and seized vehicles during the weekend drive. The police have found that most motorists who indulge in wheeling and dangerous driving are minors.

As per the law, the police say as the cases have been booked under Indian Motor Act, the owners will be under trouble for giving their vehicles to minors.

The seized vehicles are under the court's ambit and the owners will have to pay a penalty and get the same released.

The police say that this year so far 30 cases related to wheeling and dangerous driving have been registered in Bengaluru and out of that 50% of cases involving minors.

Unlike in 2020 where two minors died while doing the stunt, this year no deaths have been reported.

The traffic department says if the rider happens to be minor and results in accidents that may lead to death, the owners will be involved in the case.

The police, which also seized mobile phones from wheelies, have identified core groups and efforts are on to trace them to subject them to inquiry.

As such complaints come from the public who help the police with photos and videos of such acts, the cops have assured to safeguard their identity and also appealed to the public to come forward in addressing such issues.
