At a time when oxygen cylinders are in short supply, the focus has now shifted on finding alternatives. One such alternative is an oxygen concentrator. The oxygen concentrator, which condenses 93% oxygen from ambient air, is today in high demand across the country. India is importing thousands of units of oxygen concentrators from abroad.

Somehow, the cost of these oxygen concentrators -- prices range from Rs 45,000 to over Rs 2 lakh -- is way too high for many to afford. Now, some social welfare groups like the Lions Club International are setting up Oxy Banks or oxygen banks where these machines are being given on a rental basis for Rs 3000.
