Starting May 1, 2025, ATM usage in India is set to become more expensive as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) hikes charges for transactions beyond the free limit. Withdrawal fees will increase from ₹21 to ₹23 per transaction, while balance inquiries will now cost ₹7. Customers still get five free transactions at their own bank’s ATMs and three (or five in non-metro areas) at other banks' ATMs. So what's the alternative?
