In preparation for the festival season, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has issued new COVID-19 rules to manage the crowd at market locations and has directed officers to perform surprise visits to sites that are likely to experience a high volume of traffic.
According to media reports, Gaurav Gupta, the BBMP's chief commissioner, has instructed zonal joint commissioners and health officials to raise awareness about COVID proper conduct, including social distance, and ensure that people use face masks in public areas. According to the civic administration, those who go outside without a face mask will be fined Rs 250.

Officials told the media that wearing masks is the most critical Covid preventive step. The official went on to say that surprise inspections to stores, restaurants, marketplaces, and malls would be made to check that COVID-19 preventative measures were implemented.

As the festival season begins in September and October, the municipal administration is taking steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In the previous 24 hours, Bengaluru Urban registered 327 positive cases, 318 discharges, and two fatalities. It has a total of 7,920 active cases.
