Jammu-Kashmir: One Army jawan martyred in encounter with terrorists in Rajouri

According to reports, 3 to 4 terrorists hiding in the forest area sensed the security forces’ presence and opened fire at them, after which the Army is giving a befitting reply.

Srinagar: An Indian Army JCO (Junior Commissioned Officer) was martyred during an encounter that broke out between the security forces and terrorists in Thanamandi area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district in which a terrorist was also neutralised.

According to reports, 3 to 4 terrorists hiding in the forest area sensed the security forces’ presence and opened fire at them, after which the Army is giving a befitting reply.

After a tip off about suspicious movement by militants, police and security forces were conducting a search operation in the Karyote Kalas area.

As reported by Times Now, Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO), Jammu, Lt Col Devender Anand was quoted saying, “One JCO of the Rashtriya Rifles had suffered bullet injuries in the encounter. The JCO was immediately evacuated to the nearest medical facility, but he succumbed to the injuries.”

The encounter is still on, sources said.
