265 bodies brought to civil hospital, says police official

As many as 265 bodies have been brought to the city civil hospital following the horrific crash of the London-bound Air India plane here on Thursday afternoon, a police official said.

"265 bodies have reached the hospital as per the message we received," Deputy Commissioner of Police Kanan Desai told reporters.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg speaks with Air India chairman

"Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of the passengers and crew on board Air India Flight 171, as well as everyone affected in Ahmedabad," Ortberg said in a statement.

"I have spoken with Air India Chairman N Chandrasekaran to offer our full support,” he said.

He also said that a Boeing team stands ready to support the investigation led by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau.

“Boeing will defer to India’s AAIB to provide information about Air India flight 171, in adherence with the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization protocol,” the US aircraft maker said in the statement.

AAIB initiates formal investigation, Govt constitutes high-level committee

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu says, “Following the tragic incident in Ahmedabad, a formal investigation has been initiated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), in line with international protocols set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).”

“Additionally, the Government is constituting a high-level committee comprising experts from multiple disciplines to examine the matter in detail. The committee will work to strengthen aviation safety and prevent such incidents in future,” he added.

Goa govt declares state mourning on June 13 in view of Ahmedabad plane crash

The Government of Goa has declared state mourning for a day on June 13 in view of the crash incident in Gujarat's Ahmdebad on Thursday, involving a London-bound Air India flight. 

In a notification, the Goa government said that on June 13, all government-supported festive programmes, public celebrations, and official entertainment will remain cancelled or postponed. 

"In view of the tragic plane crash that occurred earlier today in Ahmedabad, resulting in the unfortunate loss of several lives, and as an expression of sorrow and solidarity with the bereaved families, the Government of Goa hereby declares State Mourning for one day on 13th June 2025. During the period of mourning, all Government-supported festive programmes, public celebrations, and official entertainment shall remain cancelled or postponed," the notification stated. 

"All Heads of Departments, Government Corporations, and Autonomous Bodies are hereby directed to ensure strict adherence to the above instructions," it added.
