The numbers are alarming. The report predicts that Telangana will see 46,762 new cancer cases among adults in 2026. This figure is set to increase to 47,314 by the year 2030, showing a worrying trend for the state.

The report found that breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women, accounting for a massive 36.2% of cases. This is followed by cervical cancer (8.1%) and ovarian cancer (6.6%). For men, oral cancer is the most prevalent.

More than a third of cancer cases in women are from breast cancer.

Among men, oral cavity cancer is the most common at 21.7%, followed by lung cancer (10.5%) and colorectal cancer (7.9%). What's worrying is that while breast cancer makes up over a third of cases in women, only 0.3% of women between 30 and 49 have had a breast examination.

A healthy lifestyle, regular health check-ups, and screening programs are key.

Screening for cervical cancer is also very low, with only 3.3% of women getting tested. For oral cancer, screening rates are just 2.5% for women and 2.6% for men. The report stresses that a healthy lifestyle, regular check-ups, and screening are key to preventing cancer.
