Every celebration, be it a birthday, proposal or marriage, seems incomplete without a bottle of wine for all those wine lovers out there. In fact, visiting a vineyard is one of the most loved ideas of a vacation for all those ‘tipsy trips’ with your gang of friends. On this National Wine Day, if you are a wine lover (and even if you are not and are a teetotaller), here are five vineyards in India that one must visit. You don’t only get to try your hands at tasting some delicious wines, but also see the process of its making – from growing grapes to fermenting them till the time it matures for a perfect glass of wine.

Sula Vineyards: India’s one of the best and most popular wineries, Sula Vineyards is on the list of every wine lover ever! Sula’s wines reportedly hold a share of more than 65 per cent of the wine market in India. If at the vineyard, do not miss out on taking a tour and tasting session wherein you get to try multiple Sula wines. The vineyard is situated on the outskirts of Nasik in Maharashtra.

Chandon India: The only winery situated in Madhya Pradesh, Chandon India has its very own 21-acre vineyard in the Dindori district, close to Nasik, Maharashtra. This place is a paradise for all sparkling wine lovers. The global wine brand is famous for it Brut and Rose wines. Though it is situated in MP, the vineyard is a 45-minute drive from Nasik.

York Winery: Another vineyard situated on the outskirts of Nasik, and not too far from Sula Vineyards, is York Winery. Head out for a sunset tasting session and tour of the winery. And when at the property, do not forget to try out Chardonnay as York is one of the few wineries in India that produces it.

Grover Zampa Vineyards: One of the oldest winemakers in India, Grover Zampa Vineyards is an absolute paradise for all wine lovers. The vineyard is situated near Bengaluru in Karnataka. The 410-acre property comprising extensive wine trails and a barrel room is famous for its award-winning La Reserve brand of oak matured Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz reds.
