Gurugram Man Arrested After Violent Brawl on Mussoorie's Mall Road, Woman Among Two Injured

A Gurugram man has been arrested after a violent clash with local residents on Mussoorie's Mall Road left two people, including a woman, injured. The fight reportedly began after a minor collision between two vehicles and quickly escalated.

Fight Breaks Out After Minor Road Accident

A late-night visit to Uttarakhand's Mussoorie turned violent after a road accident on the town's busy Mall Road led to a clash between tourists and local residents. Police arrested a 36-year-old man from Gurugram after two people, including a woman, were injured during the incident.

The accused has been identified as Neeraj Raghav, a resident of Sikanderpur in Gurugram. Police said he was taken into custody after the fight and later arrested following a medical examination, reported Tribune India.

Argument Quickly Turned Violent

According to police, four tourists from Gurugram had reached Mussoorie in a Toyota Innova Hycross between 10 pm and 11 pm on June 28. Near the Bata showroom on Mall Road, their vehicle reportedly collided with a local resident's car.

What began as a verbal argument soon turned into a physical fight. Police alleged that Neeraj picked up an empty plastic milk crate lying outside a nearby shop and struck a local man on the head.

A woman who stepped in to stop the fight was also hit on the head with the crate and fell onto the road. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Locals Help Police Catch Accused

Shopkeeper Pradeep Gupta told police that the tourists continued attacking local residents for nearly 10 minutes. Local people and shopkeepers then stepped in and managed to overpower the accused while others called the police through the 112 emergency helpline.

Police reached the spot quickly and detained the accused before he could leave the area.

Police Begin Investigation

The tourist vehicle involved in the incident was also challaned under the Motor Vehicles Act. Police said Neeraj was arrested under Section 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for disturbing public order and was produced before the Executive Magistrate.

Investigators are recording statements from victims, eyewitnesses and nearby shopkeepers. The viral video of the incident has sparked concern among local residents, who are demanding stricter action against tourists involved in violent behaviour.
