Today's weather update

The weather is shifting its mood across West Bengal. According to the Alipore Met office, the low pressure over the Bay of Bengal has weakened. This has reduced the spell of heavy rain in South Bengal. However, districts might still see light to moderate showers with partly cloudy skies. Meanwhile, North Bengal districts have a heavy rain alert.

Kolkata's weather today

Kolkata and its nearby areas will see mostly cloudy skies throughout the day. Some parts of the city might get light to moderate thundershowers in the afternoon or evening. If it doesn't rain, the high humidity will keep things uncomfortable.

Which districts have a chance of rain?

The Alipore Met office has forecast heavy to very heavy rain in North Bengal. The hilly districts and areas next to them have a higher chance of getting soaked. You can also expect thunderstorms and gusty winds. Rain is likely in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and Jalpaiguri.

South Bengal's weather update

The Met office has predicted light to moderate rain for South Bengal on Friday. The sky will stay cloudy all day, with scattered thunderstorms. A rain forecast is out for North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Howrah, Hooghly, Nadia, and Murshidabad.

Where else is rain possible?

The Met office also reports that the western districts of South Bengal will get scattered rain. Some areas might see light showers along with thunderstorms. There's a chance of light rain in Purulia, Bankura, West Bardhaman, and Birbhum.
