Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has stepped up his engagement with global business leaders during his visit to the United States, holding a series of meetings with senior executives from leading investment, financial services and consumer companies to explore opportunities for deeper investment and partnerships with India. Goyal held meetings with senior representatives of Blackstone, Neuberger Berman and The Estée Lauder Companies, with discussions spanning investment opportunities, financial and wealth management, manufacturing, sourcing and India's growing beauty and personal care market.
Meeting with Blackstone Leadership
During his meeting with Blackstone President and COO Jonathan Grey and Prakash Melwani, Chairman of Blackstone's International Private Equity business, Goyal discussed ways to deepen the company's investment and partnership with India. Sharing details of the meeting in a post on X, Goyal said, "Held a productive meeting with Mr. Jonathan Gray, President & COO of Blackstone along with Mr. Prakash Melwani, Chairman of Blackstone's International Private Equity business. Discussed opportunities to deepen Blackstone's investment and partnership in India and explored avenues across key sectors. I look forward our continued engagement and stronger collaboration."
Discussions with Neuberger Berman
Goyal also held talks with Neuberger Berman Chairman and CEO George Walker, along with Anthony Tutrone, Global Head of Neuberger Markets; Andrew Komaroff, COO; and Zain Naqi, Managing Director. The discussions focused on strengthening investment linkages with India and partnerships in financial and wealth management. "Held a productive meeting with Mr. George Walker, Chairman & CEO of Neuberger Berman, along with Mr. Anthony Tutrone, Global Head of Neuberger Markets; Mr. Andrew Komaroff, COO; and Mr. Zain Naqi, Managing Director. Discussed opportunities to deepen investment linkages with India and strengthen partnerships across financial and wealth management. Exploring Opportunities with Estée Lauder
The Commerce and Industry Minister also met Stéphane de La Faverie, President and CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies, in New York, with the discussion centred on expanding the company's presence in India. Goyal said the talks covered greater manufacturing and sourcing from India, as well as opportunities linked to the country's growing beauty and personal care market. The engagements are part of Goyal's visit to the US, during which he attended the G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting. His meetings with global investors and business leaders come as part of his engagements in the US, with discussions focused on expanding investment linkages, strengthening partnerships and exploring opportunities for greater business engagement with India.
