In a rare case of honour killing, a Pakistani woman shot her husband for raping their daughter-in-law. The woman alleged that her husband didn’t respect the family nor did he stop even after their son and wife asked him to put an end to the abuse.

Begum Bibi, who lived in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Shangla village, said her husband Gulbar Khan had been raping their daughter-in-law for three months and their son was aware of it. According to her, the son, a Frontier Crops soldier wanted to kill the father so that the family honour could be restored.

The Express Tribune quoted the son as saying, “Due to parental respect, I couldn't kill him, but informed my mother that I will leave home after my return.” Khan was sleeping when his wife opened fire on him with a pistol with their daughter-in-law's assistance, the police revealed.

Begum said that Khan, in the absence of their son, forced the daughter-in-law into an illicit relationship and the practice continued for three months. “I decided to kill him when he refused to give up his evil practice,” Begum added. According to the police, Begum, her daughter-in-law and the son were produced before a court which remanded them to judicial custody.
