In the aftermath of the terror attack that took place on the streets of London on Saturday June 4, stories of heroism and courage have begun to emerge. Londoners who were dining at restaurants in Borough Market were saved by the staff who risked their own life just to save others. One Londoner can’t forget a waiter’s gallantry when terrorists started stabbing innocent people who were out to celebrate their Saturday night.

Richard Angell, a diner at Arabica Bar and Kitchen on Saturday, remembers the horror as it unfolded. He said there was chaos at the restaurant when the security men outside asked the staff to lock the doors.

Angell said diners were shouting, tables were being toppled and amid all of this, one waiter kept his cool, stood next to the door and pushed it shut with his foot. Angell told The Independent the waiter stood in a place that was extremely dangerous.

“Despite the fact that their lives were at risk, the staff were concerned about our lives, which was a remarkable thing, and I will be going back not only to pay the bill, but also to double the tip,” he told the publication.

On that terrifying night, Angell said he saw several people covered in blood and some were in desperate need of medical attention. While hoping that they got the care they needed, he added that he saw beautiful acts of humanity on the streets.
