The Delhi's Patiala House Court on Monday granted 26/11 Mumbai Terror attack accused Tahawwur Rana permission to make a single phone call to his family for the time being.

The Special NIA Court has allowed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to obtain voice and handwriting samples of 26/11 mastermind Tahawwur Rana.

A Delhi court on Monday extended the NIA custody of 26/11 Mumbai attacks accused Tahawwur Hussain Rana by 12-days.

The Patiala House Court of Delhi on Wednesday reserved its decision on a plea filed by Tahawwur Rana, seeking permission to speak with his family over the phone.

“Pakistan may try very hard, but its reputation as the epicentre of global terrorism will not diminish,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during an official press briefing in Delhi.

Tahawwur Rana, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, is currently in NIA custody, where he is being interrogated. Rana has requested three things from the NIA, and the authorities have fulfilled all his demands.

In a big twist, NIA sources report that a secret witness, referred to as "Witness B", is set to confront Tahawwur Rana during interrogation. This witness reportedly facilitated David Headley's stay in Mumbai in 2006 and had close ties with Rana in the 26/11 attack conspiracy.

An NIA court granted 18-day custody of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, one of the first arrested in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks case, citing strong preliminary evidence. The judge stressed the need for a detailed custodial interrogation to uncover a far-reaching conspiracy that spans across Indian cities and international borders, posing a threat to national security.

Tahawwur Rana, a key accused in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, is likely to be brought to Kochi by the NIA to probe his visit to the city just ten days before the attacks. Investigators are exploring possible local links and whether his presence in Kochi was part of a wider terror plot involving other Indian cities.
