Will Cristiano Ronaldo play for Sporting Lisbon again? Here's what his agent Jorge Mendes says

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese football sensation who has been having an average time in Juventus currently. However, it is likely to come to an end following the ongoing 2020-21 season, as he considers a move away from Turin.

Ronaldo has had a lack of European success with the Bianconeri. Furthermore, with the side struggling for a top-four finish this season, it is implausible that Ronaldo would continue with UEFA Champions League football.

In the same light, reports have stated that Ronnie could be on his way out of Juventus with a year still in his contract remaining. Furthermore, he has been tipped to a return to one of his former clubs, including Sporting Lisbon. “I’ll talk to him to bring him back. Next year he will play in Alvalade,” Ronaldo’s mother had said.

However, how much realistic chance does Ronaldo have in returning to his hometown club? On the same note, Ronaldo’s Super Agent Jorge Mendes has cleared the air on the same, stating that it looks unlikely right now, despite the Portuguese having expressed his interest in ending his career in Lisbon.

“Cristiano is proud of the title won by Sporting, in fact, as he has publicly demonstrated. But at the moment, his career plans do not go through Portugal,” Mendes was quoted as saying to Record.

Ronaldo is likely to play for four more seasons at the top level before hanging his boots. It puts Manchester United and Real Madrid in the race for his signature again. At the same time, French champion Paris Saint-Germain is also keen on having him and is monitoring his situation.
