For the first time in sports history India is hosting a FIFA event. The FIFA U-17 World Cup has garnered enough attention from football fans and the stadiums are seeing a good amount of footfalls.

However, one aspect that Indian fans still need lessons in is cleanliness.

In a recent match where India played against the USA in Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Sunday, October 8, visitors at the stadium failed to maintain the basic cleanliness standards they are expected to.

The stadium authorities had made sure that the venue was clean before the match.

However, in a short span of just ninety minutes, the fans turned the stadium into a dumping ground.

The irony of it all is that it is the younger generation who actively support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. While everyone loves to rant about it online, nobody seems to be bothered enough to practice what they preach.

We hope that fans at the other venues will take a cue and keep their stadiums clean.
