The Delhi cricketer, who took over the Test captaincy after MS Dhoni's retirement during India's tour of Australia 2014-15, has faced massive success in a small span of time. India is yet to lose a Test under Kohli's leadership.

Maiden Test:

Kohli's first-ever Test appearance goes into the list involuntarily. He made his Test debut during India's tour of West Indies 2011. Although he had a slow start, he had scored just 4 and 15 in his maiden Test; India knew his future was bright.


First Test century:



A 23-year-old Kohli stepped up against a solid Australian attack when the other seniors in the Indian team struggled. He had scored a patient 213-ball 116, which included 11 boundaries and a six.

Kohli's 105* vs. New Zealand in 2014:



Although the match is remembered for former New Zealand captain, Brendon McCullum's triple ton, India saved the match because of Kohli's brave knock of an unbeaten 105 off 135 balls.


Twin tons in Australia:


Kohli, who is one of the smartest players of the sport, became the fifth Indian cricketer to notch up a century in both the innings of a Test. He achieved the feat against Australia at Adelaide in 2014.

First series as India's official Test captain:

While Kohli led India in two Tests during the 2014-15 tour of Australia in the absence of Dhoni, his first series as a full-time captain was against Bangladesh. The two sides played a one-off Test which ended in a draw.


First series win as skipper:



India beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in their backyard after going 0-1 down. It was Kohli's first win as India's Test captain.


Maiden Test double:



Kohli scored his first Test double hundred in West Indies in 2016 becoming the first Indian skipper to score an away Test two hundred.


A second double century:

The 28-year-old became the first Indian Test captain to smash a second double ton in the whites. He reached this milestone in the Indore Test against New Zealand in 2016.


Kohli receives the ICC Mace:



This was easily the proudest moment for Kohli as India's Test captain. India whitewashed New Zealand 3-0 and reclaimed the top spot in the ICC Test Rankings.
