Kohli's first-ever Test appearance goes into the list involuntarily. He made his Test debut during India's tour of West Indies 2011. Although he had a slow start, he had scored just 4 and 15 in his maiden Test; India knew his future was bright.

A 23-year-old Kohli stepped up against a solid Australian attack when the other seniors in the Indian team struggled. He had scored a patient 213-ball 116, which included 11 boundaries and a six.
