Ever since the dashing cricketer has been spotted with Bollywood diva, Anushka Sharma, the media and fans have shown a keen interest in the personal lives of the two.

When the situation turned ugly, and Kohli's die-hard fans began blaming Anushka for every failed performance of his, the 28-year-old chose to stand up for his alleged girlfriend.



"Shame on people for trolling @AnushkaSharma non-stop. Have some compassion. She has always only given me positivity," Kohli tweeted after his 'shaming' haters trolled Anushka for the former's poor show in a match during the World T20 2016.


The tweet not only went viral with over 39K retweets and the like button was clicked more than a lakh times, but it also hit the headlines across the nation. Kohli was already a role model for budding cricketers, and now he had set a perfect example of standing up for a woman.


The tweet has been declared as the 'Golden Tweet' of 2016.





According to Times of India, Maya Hari, Managing Director, Twitter Southeast Asia and India, said, "Virat's tweet was the ultimate winner because he stood out as a great role model for standing up for a woman and also for her safety and defence on the social platform."

Although Kohli and Anushka have never opened up about their relationship, leaving the fans and media guessing but the two seem to be going strong. While Kohli has been seen many a times dropping by on the actress' film sets, Anushka has been regularly accompanying the Indian Test skipper in official functions and parties.


The duo was recently spotted together enjoying at Yuvraj Singh and Hazel Keech's wedding.
