Paralympian shooter Naresh Kumar Sharma heaved a sigh of relief after the Supreme Court granted him the berth to compete in the upcoming Tokyo Paralympics. However, his inclusion is subject to confirmation from the Paralympics committee in Tokyo.

The SC gave Naresh the liberty to request the Delhi High Court to take up his appeal against the single-judge order that had refused to interfere with his non-selection for the Games, scheduled later this month. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjiv Khanna termed this entire case as classic, as "Tokyo has refused to allot additional slot", reports PTI. According to the organisers, only ten slots were available, with eight men and a couple of women.

In the meantime, senior advocate Vikas Singh on Tuesday said that Naresh's appeal before the high court's division bench is likely to be heard on Wednesday, where it would be decided if he or the other players would travel to Tokyo. It could also be agreed if Naresh can travel with the side as a 'reserve'.
