Indian boxing seems to have recovered from the early hiccups, as some Indian boxers continue to remain in the fray at the Tokyo Olympics. On Thursday, Satish Kumar beat Ricardo Brown of Jamaica in the super heavyweight bout 4-1.

Although both happen to be Olympic debutants, the Indian, being a two-time Asian Championship bronze-medalist, had the upper hand. He exploited the Jamaican's poor footwork, despite receiving a cut on his forehead.

Satish was also looking dangerous with his right hand, as Brown was forced to make the mistake of lunging in, while the latter lacked balance in his footwork. Although the Jamaican desperately tried to land in a big punch to rattle the Indian, he failed miserably, courtesy of his shoddy footwork.

Meanwhile, Satish looked far more comfortable with his footwork, doing his job with ease. The Commonwealth Games 2018 silver-medallist would now take on Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan in a puzzling quarterfinal bout, who happens to be the reigning world and Asian champion.
