Tokyo Olympics: Paddler G Sathiyan ousted early following loss to Siu Hang Lam
In the table tennis section for India during the Tokyo Olympics, there was a heartbreak, as G Sathiyan suffered an opening-round exit. He lost to Hong Kong's Siu Hang Lam 3-4.
Day 2 continued to be challenging for the Indian contingent, while this time, it was in the table tennis section. In the men's area, G Sathiyan lost his opening singles clash against Hong Kong's Siu Hang Lam.
It was a competitive clash, as it went until the deciding set. Sathiyan claimed a lead of 3-1, only to lose the final four games and suffer a narrow 3-4 loss.

Lam claimed the opening game 11-7 before Sathiyan won the following three, thanks to his undaunted defence. The Hong Kong's performance became a bit shaky during this time, while Sathiyan also scored winners using his backhand flicks.
However, the last four games saw Lam pull up his ante and come up with some ferocious forehands. As the Indian's defence wavered, it became an easy ride for the Hong Kong player in the closing stages.
