Tokyo Olympics: Manish Kaushik loses lightweight clash against Luke McCormack

The Indian boxing in the men's section continued to disappoint. Manish Kaushik lost his opening bout to Luke McCormack of Great Britain in the lightweight clash by split decisions, 4-1.

In yet another heartbreak for India, it was boxing men's boxing that disappointed again. Manish Kaushik lost his opening lightweight clash by a 4-1 split decision to Great Britain's Luke McCormack.

The opening round turned out to be intense, as based on the five judges decision, McCormack edged past 3-2. However, Kaushik bounced back in the second and won it 3-2, tying the scores and taking it to the deciding third round. Earlier, on Monday, India's legendary boxer MC Mary Kom won her opening flyweight bout, as she beat Dominican Republic's, Miguelina Garcia. Mary won the fight 4-1. On Saturday, Vikas Krishan had lost his opening welterweight clash against Mensah Okazawa of Japan, thus crashing out.
