The third set saw Batra look somewhat demoralised, as her fatal forearm was missing from action. Furthermore, the Austrian was firm with her defence, as the Indian failed to put anything past her, losing 5-11.

As for the fourth set, Batra tried the final trick on her book by taking it to long rallies. However, Polcanova was ready even for that as she comfortably won the set 11-7 to hand a brutal defeat to the Indian.

Batra became the second Indian woman to be ousted in the sport at the Games after Sutirtha Mukherjee lost her Round 2 clash against Fu Yu of Portugal on Sunday. Meanwhile, Achanta Sharath Kamal would be in Round 3 action among men, India's only singles hope.
