Tokyo Olympics: India guaranteed a medal, Lovlina Borgohain wins Boxing welterweight match

Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain defeated Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals of the Women's Boxing welterweight category at Tokyo 2020.
With this, Lovlina entered the semi-finals. India is sure to win at least a bronze medal when Lovlina faces off against current world champion Busenaz Surmeneli in the semi-finals.
The 23-year-old Assamese took down the former world champion 4-1 in the quarter-final match.
Borgohain took an aggressive approach from the start, winning the first round 30–27 and winning the second round unanimously. In the third round, Lovlina won with a split decision.
In the end, the Indian boxer was declared victorious by split decision and made her way to the semi-finals.
Lovlina will face top-seeded Turkish boxer Busenaz Surmeneli to reach the final. This match against the current world champion will be played on Wednesday, August 4 at 11.00 am Indian time.
Lovlina is only the third Indian boxer after Vijender Singh and Mary Kom to secure a boxing medal for the country at the Olympics.
