Tokyo Olympics: AFI to send 26-member athletics squad
The Tokyo Olympics is set to run between July 23 and August 8. Meanwhile, the Indian athletes are also set to feature in the show and run as fast as possible. Consequently, the Athletics Federation of India has announced how many athletes would be travelling.
The date to Tokyo Olympics is drawing near, while the Indian athletes are sweating it hard to be prepared for the global extravaganza in the best possible way. Besides various other sports, the Indians would also be taking part in athletics.
In the same light, the Athletics Federation of India has announced the strengths of the contingent in this sector, which is to be 26-member strong. The strong likes of runners Dutee Chand, MP Jabir, Gurpreet Singh and javelin thrower Annu Rani are a part of the squad.
Of the 26, 16 are scheduled to compete in individual events. As for the remaining ten, five would take part in the men's 4x400m relay, while a couple of men and three women would feature in the mixed 4x400m relay.

"We are happy that it is a well-prepared team, physically and emotionally, for the Olympic Games. The world has been through a lot and athletes have been challenged to stay in good shape, retain form and in good spirits. We are pleased that our athletes have remained in training ever since lockdown was lifted," said Adille J Sumariwalla (AFI President) in a statement.
