Ashwin picked up four wickets in the first innings and followed that by adding another six in the final innings to put India 1-0 up in the three-Test series. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who was among Ashwin's 10 wickets in the Kanpur Test, became Ashwin's 200th victim in whites.

The Indian spinner not only became the fastest Indian to reach the 200-mark but also the second fastest in the world.

Although Ashwin bagged 10 wickets, the player of the match was Ashwin's spin partner Ravindra Jadeja, who took six wickets and scored an unbeaten 42 and 50 in both the Indian innings.

India and New Zealand will now lock horns in the second Test at the iconic Eden Gardens, starting Friday.

Here are Ashwin's milestone wickets in pictures:

Ashwin made his Test debut in India's three-Test series against West Indies in 2011. He made his first-ever Test breakthrough in the first Test and West Indies' Darren Bravo became his first victim.

Ashwin, who finished the match with seven wickets, was named the player of the match. India won the game by five wickets.

50th Test wicket - Nick Compton

It took Ashwin nine Tests to reach the 50-wicket landmark. The spinner took his 50th Test wicket in the first Test of England's tour of India 2012-13.

He bowled the English opener Nick Compton for nine runs, who became his golden jubilee wicket. Ashwin picked a total of four wickets that match and India eventually defeated England by nine wickets.

Ashwin still holds the record of the fastest Indian to reach 50 Test wickets.

100th Test wicket - Darren Sammy

Ashwin was again the fastest Indian to reach 100 Test wickets and overall, he was the fifth quickest bowler in the world.

Ashwin clinched his 100th Test wicket during the 2013 home series against West Indies, which was also Sachin Tendulkar's final series for India.

West Indies' then skipper Darren Sammy became Ashwin's 100th wicket in Tests.

150th Test wicket - Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir, a spinner himself, happened to be the Indian spin ace's 150th Test wicket during South Africa's India tour in 2015.

Ashwin picked eight wickets in the match and India won the Test by 108 runs.

200th Test wicket - Kane Williamson

The New Zealand skipper, Williamson, will not forget the Ashwin delivery that dismissed him in the first innings for a very long time.

Ashwin bowled from quite outside off, and in no way had Williamson expected to get his stumps rattled by that ball. But the surprise turned into the milestone ball that etched Ashwin's name in the history books.

He reached 200 Test wickets in 37 Tests, while the likes of Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble had taken 46 and 47 Tests respectively.

It was India's 500th Test which the hosts comfortably won by 197 runs.
