PSG readying 3-year contract for Lionel Messi: Report

Barcelona came up with a shock after it decided to let go of its superstar striker and legend Lionel Messi. The club cannot make him sign a new contract despite both parties agreeing to it due to the recent financial structures introduced by La Liga.

Consequently, rumours have begun to surface about Messi's next destination, with English champion Manchester City and French giant Paris Saint-Germain in the fray. Meanwhile, according to an ESPN report, PSG is ready to offer a three-year contract to the Argentine.

The report adds that the club is holding talks with Messi's representatives, which has been positive so far. While club coach Mauricio Pochettino told on Friday that having Messi in Paris is a possibility, sources confirmed that the club would be talking to Messi's father and agent Jorge on Monday or earlier.

Following the announcement from Barca, the club's sporting director Leonardo along with chairman Nasser al Khelaifi have been having discussions with Jorge. Meanwhile, sources have also indicated the signing Messi could mean PSG letting go of Kylian Mbappe early, as Real Madrid was contemplating having him for free next season.

PSG has always been interested in bringing Messi to the French capital, ever since he had announced his intention to leave last year. Sources have also said that Messi's former Barca teammate Neymar has urged him to join him at PSG, while the Argentine has also held talks with Angel Di Maria, Leandro Paredes and Marco Verratti on the same.
