Lionel Messi is an Argentine football superstar who has scripted his legacy by playing at Barcelona throughout his career. However, things could change by the end of the ongoing season.

Messi has been rumoured to be leaving Barcelona since the past year after being reportedly unhappy with the side's titleless performances, unreliable management and financial struggles. Consequently, he has since been tipped to move to Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain.

Amove to City makes sense since current club manager Pep Guardiola knows Messi well enough, having previously managed him at Camp Nou. However, the question is, does Guardiola really want him at Etihad?

Meanwhile, Guardiola's father Valenti has admitted that the former would undoubtedly welcome a player like Messi to Manchester. However, the latter also admitted revealed that his son might not force Messi for a move as he has never wanted to hurt the sentiments of Barca and its fans by taking the Argentine away from them.

"There's no club in the world that wouldn't want to have Messi. I saw him play at 12 or 13 years old and I was amazed. He was extraordinary at that level. There are very few players like Messi, and I'm sure that Pep wouldn't dislike having him at City. Pep has always seen Messi as the best, but he's at Barcelona. Josep has never wanted to hurt the club by taking the player," Valenti told Emiliano Nunia.

Valenti also spoke on Guardiola's future, stating that the latter wishes to see through his current contract at City, set to run until 2023, and had no intentions of considering other jobs, including the Spanish national coaching job. "I'm very happy with the decisions he can make. He can coach Barcelona, retire, or whatever. At his age, I no longer have to teach him anything. Everything he does will make me happy," he concluded.
