Is Lionel Messi willing to pay cut at Barcelona to land this superstar?
Argentine football superstar Lionel Messi continues to ride on his legacy by playing at Barcelona throughout his career. However, his future at Camp Nou continues to remain uncertain. Nonetheless, he could possibly continue to stay but might have to take a pay cut.
Lionel Messi is an Argentine football superstar and a modern-day great. Having played at Barcelona throughout his career, he has become the most celebrated legend at Camp Nou.
However, for almost a year, it is being reported that Messi could finally choose to part ways with the Catalan, owing to its consistent performance of late and lack of regular titles. Nevertheless, Barca is trying hard to convince Messi to stay, besides offering him a mega new contract.
However, as per reports, Messi might need to take a pay cut owing to the current financial struggle the club is undergoing through the COVID-19 phase. Meanwhile, a new report suggests the Argentine could do it for a good cause.

According to a recent report by Eurosport, Messi might consider a pay cut at Barca if it helps the club landing in young Norwegian striker Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The report also adds that if the Catalan fails to act well during the upcoming summer transfer window, the Argentine might choose to leave.
Haaland has been a sensation in Germany, playing for Dortmund for the past couple of seasons and has scored 53 goals in 56 matches. He also had a terrific time with Red Bull Salzburg before, scoring 29 in 27.
As for Messi's new mega contract is concerned, although it might include a pay cut, it would be for ten years, making him earn precisely the amount he currently makes at Camp Nou. However, it somewhat sounds unrealistic, as it is unsure if the 33-year-old would keep playing for ten more years.
Meanwhile, Messi's situation with Barca is constantly being monitored by Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, who are the big favourites to land him if the Argentine decides to leave. Furthermore, with Messi having good terms with City manager Pep Guardiola and PSG striker Neymar, he could consider joining either two.
