- Tendulkar visited his adopted village, Andhra Pradesh's Puttamraju Kandrika on Wednesday.
- The village has been declared Open Defecation Free.
"The Yojana launched by @PMOIndia aims at holistic development of villages & creating an Adarsh village with motivated people," Tendulkar tweeted.
Sachin had taken up several development works at the cost of over Rs 2.78 crore in this village under Gudur mandal in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district.
He inaugurated a community development building and interacted with villagers and officials on the implementation of Swachh Bharat initiatives.
The pictures he posted on his social media account showed that he received a grand welcome from the villagers.
PR Kandrika was rated as the best village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana in various parameters fixed by the central government.
Sachin had first visited the village on the same day two years ago and had laid the foundation stone for various development works. Incidentally, it was on the same day in 2013 when the legend formally retired from cricket.
