Lionel Messi continues to be one of the modern-day greats, while he has already built his legacy playing for Barcelona. However, despite all his success at Camp Nou, his future with the Catalan has been uncertain of late, while his current contract with the club has come to an end.

Although reports had earlier suggested that he was looking to move away from Barca and try new challenges somewhere else, talks regarding his new contract at Camp Nou continued. Meanwhile, it looks like Messi is likely to extend his stay with the Catalan. However, his new contract might have an interesting clause.

According to reports, Messi is likely to play for a couple of season in the United States of America’s Major League Soccer, with Inter Miami being his preferred destination. On the same note, Miami owner Jorge Mas expressed his confidence in having the Argentine soon.

“David and I have been working really hard, we have aspirations of bringing the best players here and Leo Messi is a generational player, arguably the best player of all time. I am optimistic Messi will play in an Inter Miami shirt, because I think it will complete the legacy of the greatest player in our generation and will meet with the ambitions of the owners of Inter Miami to build a world-class team,” he told Miami Herald.

The development comes after Messi had admitted his desire to play in MLS last December. “I always had the dream of being able to enjoy and have the experience of living in the United States, experience what the league there is like,” he had told La Sexta.

Also, it was earlier reported that Messi has owned a luxurious apartment in Miami. Thus, it all but nearly confirms that the Argentine is indeed US-bound shortly.
