FIH junks 119 India vs Pakistan match records into 'garbage bin'

  • Out of 166 Indo-Pak matches, FIH has restored data of just 47 fixtures.
  • The two sides at present are playing in the Asian Champions Trophy.
  • After five matches, India are the table toppers with Pakistan on No. 4.

 

FIH shockingly disposes 119 India vs Pakistan match records

India and Pakistan, which are arch rivals in hockey like in cricket, have displayed one of the best contests in the sport of hockey. And the FIH brushed off their coveted records into the 'garbage bin.'

 

Having participated in the Melbourne Olympics way back in 1956, India and Pakistan, the two hockey giants then, came face to face for the first time. Over six decades have passed, the two sides so far have locked horns in 166 fixtures.

 

As Indian contingent won in 54 matches inclusive of the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy match, Pakistan contingent had a taste of success in 82 games. The remaining 30 matches had ended up in draws.

 

Whenever hockey match between India and Pakistan was organised, a lot of audiences and the sports lovers throng stadiums and even television channels vied with each other in procuring televising rights.

 

At present, both India and Pakistan are participating in the Asian Champions Trophy along with the other top Asian sides like China, South Korea, Japan and Malaysia. India so far are on the top with 13 points after four wins in five matches. 

 

While India drew with South Korea, it defeated the other oppositions in the Round Robbin Round.
