Edinson Cavani extends Manchester United contract until 2022
Edinson Cavani is an Uruguayan striker who has been playing for Manchester United since the ongoing 2020-21 season. He has had a decent stint so far, scoring 15 goals in 35 matches this season, while he has scored 368 club goals in 621 games.

He had joined United on a free transfer this season after serving French champion Paris Saint-Germain for seven seasons. Since then, he has made a tremendous impact at Old Trafford, scoring 15 goals in 35 matches across competitions.
“Over the season, I have developed a great affection for the club and everything that it represents. I feel a deep bond with my teammates and the staff who work behind the scenes here. They give me extra motivation every day and I know that, together, we can achieve special things,” he told United following the contract extension.
“I have been touched with how much the supporters have wanted me to stay, and I will give everything to bring them happiness and joy with my performances on the field. I’ve not yet been able to play in front of the Old Trafford crowd and that is something that I cannot wait to do,” he added.

He signed the extension upon the presence of club head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as the latter had recommended to the United management and hierarchies on extending the Uruguayan’s stay. Cavani has played a vital role in helping United fight for the second spot in the English Premier League, besides having led the side to the final of the UEFA Europa League, where it takes on Villareal on May 27.
“I said when Edinson signed that he would bring energy, power and leadership to this group and I haven’t been proved wrong; he has been everything I thought he would be and more. As coaches, we knew about his goalscoring record. However, it is his personality that has brought so much to this squad; he has a winning mentality and has an unequivocal attitude to everything he does,” concluded Solskjaer.
Cavani has had a prolific career, scoring 368 clubs goals in 621 games, while he had his best time at PSG, scoring 200 in 301, having served Danubio, Palermo and Napoli before. Playing for Uruguay, he has scored 51 in 118 to date.
