Dhoni, who has not been playing since the home series against New Zealand in October, would have gone into the ODI series without proper game time for 77 days.

However, it was later revealed that England will play two warm-up matches against India A before the three-ODI series goes underway, starting January 15 in Pune.

The matches have been scheduled for January 10 and 12 at the CCI ground in Mumbai.

It will be interesting to watch if Dhoni will play the warm-up games or not.

Although he has been regularly training with the Jharkhand Ranji team, JSCA secretary Rajesh Verma had made it clear that Dhoni was only a 'mentor' to the team and will not be donning whites since he has already retired from Tests.

Along with Dhoni, the talks about Delhi cricketer, Rishabh Pant's selection has been revolving in the media too.

Pant, who has been on top form, having scored 903 runs in 6 matches at an excellent average of 90.30, has grabbed attention leaving a lot of people rooting for his selection. He could be picked either as a pure wicketkeeper or a wicketkeeper-batsman, lending Dhoni a chance to concentrate totally on his batting.
