BCCI chooses a unique way to celebrate Team Indias 500th Test

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has come up with a fan engagement initiative to celebrate Team India's 500th Test.

India and New Zealand are set to play three-Test series. The first Test between the two sides which will be played at Kanpur, starting September 22, will mark India's 500th Test.

India, who played their first Test back in 1932, so far have won 129, lost 157, drew 212 and tied a match out of 499 Tests played.

The initiative empowers cricket fans from all across the globe to vote for India's 'Dream Team' through a series of poll questions on Indian cricket team's Facebook Page.

Talking about the initiative, BCCI President Anurag Thakur said: "I have always believed that the heart of the game lies with its fans and what better way to celebrate the historic moment of 500th Test match by giving the fans a chance to vote for their 'Dream Team'.

"I am pleased that over 100,000 cricket fans have already voted to pick their top-order in the 'Dream Team', and I expect the number to grow manifolds in coming days," he added.

Meanwhile, BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke added: "This is a great campaign for the Indian cricket fans to come together and pick their favourite players in their team. We are expecting our fans to give a healthy competition to the legends of the game in their Dream Team."
