Since Monday evening, Patrik Schick has been in the football headlines as the Czech Republic striker scored a screamer in the UEFA Euro 2020 clash against Scotland. His long-distance effort turned out to be almost 50-yards out.

Although the goal was also the longest in the competition's history, it wasn't the longest in world football. In the same light, we present the five longest goals ever scored in world football.

Andy Lonergan (95-100 yards)
Played in 2004, there was no official measurement recorded. However, playing for Preston North End, goalkeeper Lonergan scored against Leicester City as his attempted effort to steer the ball towards the opponents attacking half led to the ball bouncing in front of Leicester goalkeeper Kevin Pressman. But, the bounce was too much, as it resulted in toppling the latter and entering the goal, while the estimated distance was between 95-100 yards.

Matias Dituro (95-100 yards)
Bolivian keeper Matias Dituro, who was playing for Bolivar, scored a similar one that was nearly 100 yards. As the opponent team, San Jose de Oruro, was trailing 1-2, its goalkeeper Carlos Franco had left his position to assist his side in a late equaliser from a free-kick. However, Dituro grabbed it and slammed it with all power towards de Oruro's goal, as the ball bounced a few times before eventually rolling in for the third.

Asmir Begovic (97.5 yards)
In 2013, playing for Stoke City, Begović scored a 97.5-yard screamer against Southampton. It was another attempted clearance, as the ball dropped in front of opponent keeper Artur Boruc, taking another sharp bouncing and rolling into the goal. He held the Guinness World Record for the same.

Tim Howard (101 yards)
The American goalkeeper is a familiar face in England, having served Everton for ten years. In 2012, playing against Bolton Wanderers, his attempted clearance from his penalty box resulted in the ball travelling nearly 101 yards and beat the opponent goalkeeper Ádám Bogdán after bouncing in front of the latter. Nevertheless, Howard refused to celebrate out of respect for Bogdán and termed his goal "cruel".

Tom King (105 yards)
His name says it all, as the English goalkeeper is currently the record king for having scored the longest goal. Playing for Newport County in 2019, he hit the ball long enough from a goal kick against Cheltenham Town. However, the ball landed in front of the opponent keeper and took a steep rise before rolling in. Also, he was aided by the wind. Guinness World Record has recognised his goal as 105 yards.
