Four burglars arrested, Rs 3.3 lakh worth jewels recovered in two incidents
Bengaluru North Division police arrested four burglars in two separate incidents. In the first incident, gold and silver items worth Rs 1.8 lakh was stolen from a house in Srirampuram police limits and items worth Rs 1.5 lakh was looted from a house in Nandini Layout in the second incident.
Bengaluru: Recent daylight house burglaries have sparked fear in Bengaluru residents who wish to go out on vacation. In the most recent of incidents, Rs 3.3 lakh worth items was stolen from two houses in Bengaluru North Division police limits a few days ago.
In the first incident, Srirampuram police arrested three persons for breaking into a house and stealing jewels worth Rs 1.8 lakh and in the second incident, a house in Nandini Layout was robbed of jewels worth Rs 1.5 lakh.
According to Srirampuram police, D Ganesh aged 39, from Hassan district, Kumar 30 from Tumakuru, and Riyaz from Kengeri broke into Sheshadripuram resident, Arumugam's house on January 6 when he and is family was away from home.Â
"Jewels weighing 60 grams, silver lamps and other items were stolen. Based on the complaint we checked CCTV footage from the area and noted suspicious movement on that day and rounded off these habitual offenders. Upon questioning, the accused confessed to committing the crime," said senior police official.
In the second incident, accused Altaf Syed aged 30, broke into Nandini Layout resident Jayamma's house and stole jewels worth Rs 1.5 lakh " On January 15, the complainant Jayamma was away from home. Sensing that no one was around, the accused entered her house around 1pm and escaped with the jewels," said a police officer. The accused persons were arrested and have been sent to judicial custody.
The police also have asked house owners to be alert and keep the police informed in case they are going on a long vacation.
