Bengaluru: A gang of burglars broke into a builder’s penthouse in Chelikere, near Hennur, Bengaluru, and fled with the loot worth over Rs 1.1 crore.

The incident came to light on Sunday (May 5) when Nagaraja Reddy returned home from his visit to Lord Saneeshwara Temple in Thirunallar, Tamil Nadu.

Nagaraja and his family had left home at 6:30 am on Friday (May 3) for Thirunallar. They returned home at around 1:30 am on Sunday (May 5).

Nagaraja is a resident of Chelikere, Hennur, Bengaluru.  When the family returned to their penthouse in B Block of Sahasra Grand Apartments, they found the back door of their home had been broken open.

Nagaraja reported that about 15kg of silver articles, gold ornaments weighing 3,254 grams, 23 expensive watches, Rs 5 lakh in cash and foreign currency worth Rs 1.5 lakh were stolen from their home.

Nagaraja suspects his maid Mandivi Singh and her husband Hemanth Singh, who hail from Nepal, are involved in the theft. The duo is currently missing.

Preliminary investigations surmise that a gang of four including Mandivi Singh and her husband Hemanth Singh robbed the house and fled the scene.

Rahulkumar Shahapurwad, DCP (East) said that police have formed a team to nab the burglars.
