Bengaluru’s RV Road Metro station likely to be closed for a year
The RV Road Metro station is likely to be closed for nearly a year as the BMRCL is expected to begin work on integrating the Bommasandra Yellow Line that connects to Electronics City with the Green Line at RV Road Metro station.
Bengaluru: The RV Road Metro station might be closed for nearly a year till the completion of the integration of the RV Road station with the Yellow Line of phase 2 work.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is gearing up to link the Green Line with Yellow Line between RV Road and Bommasandra. Passengers will not be able to travel directly from Yelachenahalli to Nagasandra on the Green Line.
According to plans, the Yellow Line, which is under construction, will begin at RV Road station and terminate at Electronics City.
RV Road station started functioning in 2017 and at least 5000 commuters use the station every day.
Hindustan Construction Company and URC Construction have taken the up responsibility of constructing the Yellow Line Metro stretch. This line is expected to be ready for public use by 2021.
According to initial plans, another station at RV Road was to be built for the Yellow Line, so that the current operations between Yelachenahalli and Nagasandra remained uninterrupted.
However, speaking to Asianet Newsable, BL Yeshwanth Chavan, chief public relations officer BMRCL said that the BMRCL has not taken a final call on it yet. "We have not made a final decision yet. Will let the media know when the decision on the same is taken," he said.
