Bengaluru: Pillion rider dies as rider tries to dodge dog

The rider tried to swerve when he spotted a dog on the road. He lost control of the motorcycle and the pillion rider was thrown off the two-wheeler.

Bengaluru: A 43-year-old man, riding pillion, died after he was thrown off a two-wheeler. The incident occurred in Nandagudi in Hoskote taluk when the biker spotted a dog and tried to avoid hitting it.

Munegowda, a resident of Kodrahalli village, was riding pillion during the incident on June 8. He sustained injuries and died on Wednesday at a hospital in Whitefield.

His brother-in-law, Shiva Kumar, who was the bike rider, also fell from the bike but escaped with minor injuries.

Reportedly, the biker spotted the dog when they reached D Shettihalli-Nagarenahalli Road. When he suddenly swerved to avoid hitting it, he lost control of the bike.

Munegowda was severely injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to another hospital but did not survive.

Nagarathnamma, wife of Munegowda, lodged a complaint against Shiva Kumar with Sulibele Police. The police have registered a case.

25-year-old software engineer dies after falling from bike

In an accident that took place in May 2019, a 25-year-old woman working as a software engineer in Bengaluru died after she fell off a bike near Tin Factory junction in KR Puram. She was returning home after work with her friend.

The deceased was identified as Sushmitha S Pai, hailing from Kasaragod in Kerala.

Reportedly, a senior police officer said that the incident took place at around 3.30 am on May 12. The rider was found to be riding recklessly. He lost control of the bike and Sushmitha fell off the vehicle.
