New income tax website promises to make tax filing way too easy
According to the CBDT, the new portal will immediately process Income Tax Returns and issue quick refunds to taxpayers.
FollowTax filing will be a smoother process from June 7 with the Central Board of Direct Taxes all set to the launch of its new online portal, www.incometax.gov.in.
According to the CBDT, the new portal will immediately process Income Tax Returns and issue quick refunds to taxpayers.
Further, all interactions and uploads or pending actions will be displayed on a single dashboard for follow-up action by the taxpayer.
The new portal will also have a free of cost Income Tax Return preparation software available online and offline with interactive questions to help taxpayers fill the ITR even without any tax knowledge, with prefilling, for minimizing data entry effort.

The website will provide information about a new call centre for taxpayer assistance for immediate answers to taxpayer queries with FAQs, Tutorials, Videos and chatbot/live agent.
All key portal functions on the desktop will be available on Mobile App, which will be enabled subsequently for full anytime access on the mobile network.
The new online tax payment system on the new portal will be enabled subsequently with multiple new payment options using net banking, UPI, Credit Card and RTGS/NEFT from any account of the taxpayer in any bank for easy payment of taxes.
