Kerala police chief has come to the rescue of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Yatish Chandra after CPI lashed out at him stating that the officer unleashed the attack on protestors at Puthuvype. He said that the DCP took action following terrorist threat during Prime Minister's visit.

DGP Senkumar revealed that there was a threat to life to Prime Minister, during his visit to Kochi for Metro inauguration, and this prompted the DCP to take action against protestors. The officer was right and was only performing his duty. Some people even tried to block the convoy of Prime Minister, the DGp said.

The DGP also said that he checked the entire footage of police action and did not find anything proving allegations raised against the DCP.
