Kerala woman bites off assailant's tongue after he forcibly tried to kiss her

FollowIn a shocking incident, a woman from Kochi bit off a man's tongue when he forcefully tried to kiss her after sneaking up on her in the middle of the night. The woman then produced the severed tongue at the police station, and the cops arrested him after tracing him to a hospital in the city, where he was undergoing treatment.
The incident happened at Njarackal near Kochi on Wednesday night. Rajesh, 30, noticed lights in the bathroom while passing the woman's house and entered the compound by climbing over the wall. When the woman came out of the bath, he removed the fuse and forced himself on the woman in the darkness and tried to kiss her. And in an act of self-defence, the woman bit off his tongue. Rajesh fled the spot in desperation as his severed tongue fell off.
According to the police, the woman lodged a complaint on Thursday and also produced the remains of the tongue, which was approximately 2 cms long, at the police station as "evidence".
The police then started checking hospital records, and eventually found Rajesh undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kochi. The police arrested him on Monday after he was discharged from the hospital following a surgery on his tongue. The man had reportedly told hospital authorities that he lost his tongue in a freak accident.
Rajesh was arrested on charges under IPC sections 447 (Punishment for criminal trespass), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 511 of 376 (Punishment for attempt to rape) and was produced before a magistrate on Tuesday.
