Kochi Metro inauguration PM office excludes Sreedharan chennithala

In what has come as a shock, Metro Man E Sreedharan has been removed from the list of dignitaries who will share the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inaugural function of Kochi Metro at the Kaloor stadium on June 17.

According to the list by the Prime Minister's Office on Wednesday, only three persons will be on the dais for the much-awaited event, alongside PM Modi. The office lists PM Modi, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Kerala Governor P Sathasivam as the dignitaries who will be on the stage for the function.

The Kerala government had earlier submitted a list of 13 persons, who are to be included on the dais for the inauguration, out of which 11 have been chalked off by the PMO.

Apart from Sreedharan, who is the principal advisor of the Kochi Metro, KMRL MD Elias George, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and MLA PT Thomas have been excluded from the stage. However, it is understood that all of the aforementioned will participate in the function, though they won't be on the stage for the inauguration.

Reacting to the news, Sreedharan said that he had no complaints on the decision taken by the PMO. Reports claim that the PM's office made the call to cut down list of the dignitaries, citing security concerns.
