RSS man's murder: Main accused Anoop arrested

In a major breakthrough, the police have arrested TP Anoop, the main accused in the murder of RSS activist Choorakkad Biju in Kannur.

DYFI leader and CPM local committee member Anoop was nabbed by the probe team on Monday night from the KSRTC bus stand in Payyannur. The probe officials confirmed that Anoop was the main man behind the murder. The police are of the opinion that the investigation could be expedited with the arrest of the key accused.

Anoop is the fifth person to be arrested in connection with the murder. The probe team had earlier taken Sathyan (33), Jithin (31), Rineesh (28) and Jyothish (26) into custody. The police said that a seven­-member group, who reached the murder scene in a car, were behind the murder. 

Meanwhile, another accused, named Prajeesh, is still absconding. It is understood that he has left the country. The police are trying to trace him and get him back.

RSS worker Biju was hacked to death allegedly by CPM activists at Ramanthali on March 12. Biju, who was an accused in the murder of CPM worker Dhanaraj in July, was out on bail when he was killed.
